2021 'Tauktae' Cyclone in INDIA | Captured by Space Satellite !
Cyclone was Captured by India's Weather Satellite.
2021’s first cyclone is brewing over the east-central Arabian Sea. The IMD predicts that the west and southwest coast of India might witness cyclonic activity in the nest dew days. The cyclone, called ‘Tauktae’ is expected to drift along the southeast Arabian Sea, towards Lakshadweep.
HOW CYCLONE TAUKTAE WAS NAMED?
- The cyclone’s name has been given by MYANMAR.
- Tauktae means Gecko, a lizard known for its distinctive vocalizations.
- India falls under the Southern region of the world which has eight countries. These countries name cyclones one by one in rotation.
ORIGIN OF CYCLONE TAUKTAE:
Expected to form over the southeast Arabian Sea on 14 May 2021.
ESTIMATED PATH OF CYCLONE TAUKTAE:
- The cyclone is likely to move north and North-westward towards Lakshadweep by 15 May 2021.
- It may then continue its course, affecting Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
- It may move Northwards towards Maharashtra and the Kutch region.
TIME OF CYCLONE TAUKTAE:
The effects of the cyclone are likely to be felt form May 15
to May 18. (At the Western coast of India.)
WHERE WILL CYCLONE TAUKTAE’S IMPACT BE FELT?
- Lakshadweep,
- Coastal Areas of Kerala,
- Karnataka,
- Goa,
- Maharashtra and
- Gujarat, etc.
Are likely to be affected.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for parts of Kerala,
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu from Friday to Sunday.
WHERE WILL CYCLONE TAUKTAE HIT HARDEST?
Lakshadweep, the coast of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra are likely to be most impacted by the cyclone. The low-lying areas of Lakshadweep could be flooded by May 15-16. The IMD has advised fishermen along the west coast against heading out to sea. The rainfall due to the cyclone is likely to intensify over the weekend. Some predications suggest that the cyclone may drift towards Gujarat and south Pakistan while there is also a possibility t will move toward South Oman.
KERALA PREPARES FOR CYCLONE TAUKTAE:
- A few districts in Kerala are on heavy to very heavy rain alerts.
- Orange Code warning has been issued for six Kerala districts for MAY 14.
- These areas are likely to receive very heavy rains between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm for 24 hours. Kerala State Disaster Management Authority conducted a meeting with the Indian Army, Navy, IAF, Coast Guard and NDRF. The KSDMA has directed authorities to make arrangements for relief camps adhering to COVID-19 protocol.
